We (Michelle and Megan) are so excited to start this new adventure with our community in the prevention and empowerment of human trafficking survivors in the Central Valley. Human trafficking has many layers from the lives of at-risk youth who are being recruited by pimps in our community to the buyers who are brought in through the gateway of pornography. Prayer and volunteers are needed to spread light in this dark issue. It begins with a desire to learn, be equipped, and ask Jesus where He would want us to serve.

We are working with the Contreras family from World Impact, who are Extended Family with The Well, living in the Hidalgo neighborhood. The need for trauma-informed training is real. World Impact partners with Central Valley Justice Coalition, Breaking the Chains, Central Valley Against Human Trafficking and the Clear Thinking Alliance for training, and connection to resources for survivors. Our first training was such an amazing eye-opening experience!

If you are interested in this fight, register to attend the next Human Trafficking 101 training offered by Central Valley Justice Coalition. You will learn about the complex problem in our city and how you can participate in being part of the solution. One of the biggest takeaways from this first training is that it is relationships that drew women into the life of trafficking and it will take relationships for women to get out of this life. It can take 10-15 attempts before a woman is able to leave the life of human trafficking. It is our desire to share not only our relationship as a community, but the relationship we have with Jesus who has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of light.

We are praying that as a church we can build relationships with those already fighting and help in ways that will impact the community in a positive light. We are strongly encouraging education in human trafficking, and Central Valley Justice Coalition does a great job educating our community. The next class is November 6. We would love to meet with you and get started in this journey together. If you are interested in learning more or getting involved, email us at missions@thewellcommunity.org.
