Common Questions

• When and where does re|engage meet?

  We meet every Tuesday night (through the end of the spring semester, then moving to Thursdays in the fall) at 6:30-8:30pm at The Well Clovis Campus (325 Nees Ave Clovis, CA 93611).

• What is the origin of re|engage?

  The program was launched at Watermark Community Church (Dallas, TX) in September 2008 and has since expanded to other churches like The Well nationwide. The Well started its first re|engage group in Spring of 2017.

• What does a typical night at re|engage “look like”?

  The format of the Tuesday night is as follows:

  • 6:30 - 7:00PM – LARGE GROUP Time (worship and/or testimony/teaching)
  • 7:05 - 8:20PM – SMALL GROUP Time 
    • You will be placed in group with 4-5 other couples and a facilitator couple. You will work through the re|engage curriculum on your own, and discuss as a group. You can expect to be in a group for 15 weeks (1st night is orientation plus 14 weeks of curriculum).

• Will I be asked a lot of personal questions?

  There is no personal sharing required during the large group meeting. Though we encourage you to remain active in group discussion, any personal sharing during the small group meetings is voluntary.

• How do I know what I share will be kept confidential?

  We believe that scripture calls us to refrain from gossip and we ask all participants and facilitators to adhere to the guidelines that what is discussed in the group stays in the group. re|engage facilitators are encouraged to operate under the direction of God’s Word in handling the information shared. In order to provide a safe environment, the facilitators have committed to not share information about others outside the group except in the event of the threat of physical, emotional or spiritual injury, then to be dealt with under the guidance of re|engage staff.

• Can I be honest with people about what is going on in our marriage?

  Our prayer is that you will feel safe to share within your small group. We find that the more authentic and transparent couples can be with others, the more they find hope and healing within their marriage.

• Is re|engage marriage counseling?

  re|engage is not marriage counseling and the leaders are facilitators, not counselors. They are also growing in their own marriages. Everyone in the group is on the journey to oneness in marriage. We believe that openness and honesty in a small group setting, using Biblically-based curriculum, is where God works to grow and resurrect marriages.

• Do you provide Childcare?

  Yes, We provide a safe and fun place for children 6 weeks to 6th grade called TRAINING GROUND to connect them to other kids and leaders. Training Ground and its volunteers are here to partner with parents to help and support kids while mom and dad work on their marriage. There is an additional cost of $15, per child, for the entire semester. You must register for childcare separately. Once you register for re|engage, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to register your children. Space is limited. Your child or children can be dropped off in the kids wing before large group and must be picked up by 8:30PM.

• Can I just visit, or do I have to commit to something?

  re|engage is semester-based so you must register when the registration is open. Once it closes, all groups are formed. However, anyone is welcome to check it out and observe our large group where you will hear a couple's testimony or a teaching based off the curriculum. There is no sign-up needed for this. Our large group is from 6:30pm-7:00pm

• What commitment do I have to make?

  Once you join a closed group, working through the re|engage curriculum will require a 15-week commitment. This is the time in which the group is working through the curriculum together. We do encourage a one-off night for a social gathering to bond and get to know your group. An additional 6-8 hours on a weekend to share life maps will be required. (See what are Life Maps?)

• How much time outside of the meeting is required each week?

  Completion of the curriculum will take approximately 15-20 minutes each week. The time required will vary, but it is designed for minimal time commitment.

• I don’t know if I’ll have a marriage by the end of the month. Is re|engage a good place for us?

  Absolutely! There are many couples who have attended, or are attending, who are separated or divorced. While the outcome is based on the work each individual is willing to do to save their marriage, the platform provides a safe place to focus on what a healthy marriage should look like, and it provides some tools to help grow toward this goal.

• We don’t like spending time with each other anymore. Will we have to interact together?

  While you will be in a small group together, each of you will be sharing about what you learn personally each week. However, there are some exercises that may require you to interact with each other throughout the process.

• I have no hope anymore. Is this a place where we can find hope?

  Our prayer is that you will find hope that can come through allowing God to do a mighty work within your marriage. You will hear other couple's stories of what God did in their marriage that will bring hope and encouragement. As well as the community aspect of re|engage helps you process together so that you do not feel alone. 

• My marriage is doing well. Can we benefit by attending re|engage?

  Whether your marriage needs to be reignited, or is in need of a complete resurrection, re|engage is a safe place for couples to reconnect.

• We have only been married for 6 months. Can we still come?

  Absolutely! In fact, participating in re|engage at this stage in your marriage is a great idea! The program will provide a strong foundation for your marriage.

• We are thinking about getting married (or are engaged). Is this ministry for us?

  We suggest you elect to focus on marriage preparation through a pre-marital class called Merge. If you would like more information on the pre-marital class at The Well, please contact merge@thewellcommunity.org.

• What are Life Maps?

  A Life Map is a visual representation of an individual's life from birth to present. It highlights the events and relationships God has used to mold and shape their character. We use Life Maps as a tool to help build authenticity, trust and community in the groups.
